One day trip: Beekeeping and ironworking through time

Excursion theme

• the history of Radovljica with its medieval heart of the town
• presentation of beekeeping – visit to the Museum of Apiculture
• the history of ironworking, as represented in a museum
• sightseeing of the oldest blast furnace in Slovenia
• a place of pilgrimage, Brezje – visiting of the permanent exhibition of Christmas cribs

Excursion program

• the guide enters the bus in Radovljica
• visiting the Museum of Apiculture in Radovljica
• a stroll through the old town centre, along the town wall, passing the church, through the park and back to the bus
• possibility of a short stop in Lesce – in the shop of the chocolate factory Gorenjka
• visiting the Forging Museum in Kropa
• a stroll through the old village centre to Vigenjc (a well preserved forge), representation of nail making, the most daring will have the opportunity to try themselves in nail making
• if desired, we can walk to the oldest blast furnace in Slovenia and to the church in Jamnik,where we can enjoy a spectacular view round Gorenjska
• the bus takes us through some villages to Brezje, where we visit the renown pilgrim basilica and the exhibition of Christmas cribs
• lunch in a pleasant restaurant in Brezje
• after lunch the bus takes us back home
